Winter Just Took A Short Break! Chill Likely To Increase With Rain Amid Another Flip-Flop By Delhi Weather
Delhi Weather Update: The national capital is expected to get thunderstorms on February 4 and temperatures could drop to 8 degrees Celsius by the weekend as per the IMD's forecast.

Delhi Weather News: The election heat is on in Delhi, but the national capital's weather continues to be chilly. The western disturbance continues its flip-flops and is likely to bring in another change in the Delhi-NCR weather. Temperatures could drop significantly again over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has even issued a yellow alert for Monday. Dense fog may occur in some places. There is a possibility of rain at night.
The IMD has forecast dense fog and partly cloudy skies with light drizzle in Delhi on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the national capital are expected to be 22 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively on Monday. "Smog/moderate fog in most places with dense fog in isolated places likely in the morning. Partly cloudy sky. A spell of very light to light rain/drizzle during the night. Smog/mist is likely in the night. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 22 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively," a bulletin from the IMD read.
Delhi-NCR was partly cloudy on Sunday and the maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was recorded at 11.3 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above the average temperature for this season. The humidity level was recorded at 97% at 8:30 AM on Sunday in the capital.
Temperature Flip Flops In Delhi
According to the IMD, on February 4, thunderstorms could follow the rain and the drop in temperatures in Delhi on Monday. The minimum temperature is, however, likely to rise by likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and hover around 11-13 degrees. The maximum temperature could be around 18-20 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, as per the IMD, the maximum temperature could rise 3-4 degrees and hover between 22 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature is likely to drop and be around 9-11 degrees Celsius. It will drop further in the next three days till the weekend. The maximum temperature is unlikely to go beyond 24 degrees Celsius, though.
Moreover, the fog cover, too, will hang over Delhi till Saturday.
The elections in Delhi will be held on February 5 and the results will be declared on February 8, Saturday.
Air Pollution Cloud Hangs Over Delhi
The pollution in the air is sure to turn the fog into smog. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday and the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 327 at 6 pm.
On Monday, the Air Quality Early Warning and Decision Support System for Delhi pegged the overall AQI at 315 at 5.30 AM. Some of the worst polluted areas at the time were Jahangirpuri (344), Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium (349), Mundka (351), Nehru Nagar (366), Patparganj (348), Punjabi Bagh (341), Rohini (333), Sirifort (356), Vivek Vihar (360), Anand Vihar (358), Ashok Vihar (336), Bawana (327), Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range (342), Dwarka (350), ITO (247), Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (305), Mandir Marg (325), and Narela (324).
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', between 51 and 100 is 'satisfactory', between 101 and 200 is 'moderate', between 201 and 300 is 'poor', between 301 and 400 is 'very poor' and between 401 and 500 is 'severe'.
