Delhi Weather Today News: Delhi-NCR residents got some relief from the heat on Friday evening due to a dust storm and then rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more thunderstorms in Delhi on Saturday, April 12. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
The weather in Delhi changed suddenly on Friday due to strong winds, bringing relief from the intense heatwave that had been baking the national capital for the past few days. The maximum temperature in the national capital on Friday was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius, which was 3.8 degrees lower than Thursday's maximum temperature. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 39.6 degrees Celsius.

Delhi experienced a dust storm and strong winds on Friday evening, and the Meteorological Department has warned of adverse weather in the coming days. An 'orange alert' has been issued for the Delhi-NCR region.
Due to the bad weather in Delhi, the routes of more than 15 flights were diverted at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday evening.

Airport And Flight Operations Hit
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport operator, said in a post on 'X' at 7:15 pm, "Some flights at Delhi Airport have been affected due to bad weather in Delhi. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest information on flights."
The airline 'Indigo' said that dust storms are occurring in Delhi and Jaipur, affecting aircraft movement, and therefore may cause disruption to air traffic.

Many passengers complained that flights were delayed and some airlines allegedly did not inform their flyers how long would it take or what was causing the delay.

Some passengers posted on X that the affected flyers even protested at the airport.

Heatwave Alert In Delhi
While the temperature has come down due to the rain and storm, the relief will be short-lived. Delhi-NCR's temperature will rise again in a few days and heat wave conditions are likely to be back.
According to the IMD, April 16 and 17 will see the temperature rise by several degrees to 40-42 degrees Celsius. A yellow heat wave alert has been issued for these two days. A heatwave alert is issued when the temperature departure from normal is more than 4.5 degrees Celsius or when the maximum temperature is above 45 degrees Celsius.
