Delhi Schools Bomb Threat: In 5th Instance In 2 Weeks, Dwarka DPS Gets Email Threatening To Blow Up Building

Delhi schools have been receiving bomb threats for the past two weeks. The latest threat was issued to DPS, Dwarka on Friday morning.

Delhi Schools Bomb Threat: Another bomb threat, the fifth one in two weeks, was issued to a reputable school in Delhi on Friday morning. The threat was issued to DPS, Dwarka, in Sector 23. The school immediately informed the police about the threat around 5:02 AM. The Delhi Fire Services, police, bomb detection teams, and a dog squad are now conducting a thorough search at the school.

The threat was sent to the school via an email. Classes at DPS, Dwarka, were suspended and moved online following the bomb threat.

Previous Instances Of Bomb Threats At Delhi Schools

On December 9, around 40 schools in Delhi received bomb threats through email. Upon learning of the threats, school authorities promptly alerted parents and ensured that all students were sent home safely. Following a thorough investigation, police teams reported no suspicious findings.

Just days later, on December 13, bomb threats targeted six more schools, leading to the suspension of classes. A comprehensive search by law enforcement confirmed the threats were baseless hoaxes.

The pattern continued on December 14 when another wave of threats emerged, including one directed at Delhi Public School (DPS) in RK Puram. This particular incident was traced back to a prank by a student from the school. Police intervened, counselling the student, and advising the parents to monitor their child closely. Authorities emphasized that the student's actions were unrelated to the other recurring threats across Delhi.

Bomb threats have become a frequent occurrence in Delhi, with threats being issued not only to schools but also to hospitals, banks, airports, and other institutions. With Delhi's elections just months away, these threats are raising major security concerns.

Addressing the issue, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal earlier said: "It is deeply troubling. If such incidents persist, what impact will they have on children and their education?"
