Delhi: Man Stabs 10-Year-Old Son To Death For Insisting On Playing In Rain, Arrested

The accused rushed his son to the hospital after stabbing him, but the child had already succumbed to his injuries by then. The victim's siblings have demanded strict action against their father.

A man on Sunday allegedly stabbed his 10-year-old son to death after he insisted on playing in the rain in Sagarpur area of southwest Delhi. The accused has been arrested and the police have registered a case of murder against him.

The incident took place in the afternoon today when the boy insisted on going out to play in the rain, police said. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, a 40-year-old daily wage worker, objected to his son's request, but the child did not comply. This angered the man, who then picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the boy in the chest in fit of rage.

The accused rushed his son to the hospital after stabbing him, but the child had already succumbed to his injuries by then. Subsequently, the doctors informed police about the incident, and an investigation was launched in the matter.

According to police, a PCR call was received from Dada Dev Hospital at around 1:30 PM regarding the admission of a boy, who had allegedly been stabbed by his father. The hospital informed the police that the child was declared brought dead by doctors.

The boy lived with his father and three siblings in a one-room rented accommodation in Sagarpur's Mohan Block. His mother had passed away a few years ago and the father looked after the children.

The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, was recovered from the house. Police also took the man into custody and launched an investigation.

The full sequence of events and circumstances leading up to the crime are being ascertained. The police officials are also speaking to the neighbours and other family members to get details of the background.

Victim's Siblings Demand Strict Action Against Father

Meanwhile, the victim's sister demanded strict action against her father. She claime d that her father used to thrash everyone after consuming liquor.

"Today my brother went outside to play in the rain, but my father objected and ran behind him with a knife. He stabbed him in the chest. I want strict action against my father," PTI quoted her as saying.

The victim's brother said that tried to save him from their father, but he was drunk and did not listen to them. "My father was drunk and he was not listening to our pleas. He suddenly stabbed my brother due to which he died. We want action against him," he added.

Police will soon record the statement of others, and check the CCTV footage of the entire incident.
