Delhi: 1 Killed, Several Injured After Cars Catch Fire On Dwarka Expressway

Injured people were rushed to the hospital while one person was killed in the accident.

One was killed, and several people were injured after two cars collided and caught on fire on the Dwarka Expressway, Delhi Fire Service said on Wednesday. The injured individuals were taken to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. 

In a video shared by ANI, the charred remains of the vehicles can be seen on the side of the road. 

In a similar incident, at least three were killed and several others were injured when two cars collided on Monday in the Amravati district of Maharashtra. The accident occurred in Golegaon village on the Daryapur-Akola road in the afternoon.

"Three out of four occupants of one of the cars died while another one was injured. Two persons travelling in another car also suffered injuries and were hospitalised," an official said, according to PTI.

Kerala Accident Kills Five Medical Students

In another incident, five medical students died after their car collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. According to ANI, the accident occurred at around 10 pm on Monday night. 

The deceased students have been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim, hailing from Lakshadweep, Sreedeep from Palakkad, Ayush Shaji from Alappuzha, Devanand from Malappuram and Mohammed Jabbar from Kannur. They all studied at TD Medical College in the district. 

In the CCTV visuals aired by TV channels, it can be seen that the speeding car skids and collides with the passenger bus and gets crushed beneath it on a rainy night. Three students died on the spot, local people who rushed to rescue them said.

Police said due to the impact of the collision, the car was destroyed completely, and the youths inside were taken out after breaking the vehicle. The passengers on the bus also sustained minor injuries, according to PTI.
