Car Follows GPS, Takes Under-Construction Flyover; What Happened Next Left The Driver Shaking In Fear: VIDEO

A car plunged into an under-construction flyover in UP after online navigation Maps gave wrong directions. All passengers had a narrow escape in the late-night mishap.

A routine journey turned into a near-tragic incident late Monday night when a car, following directions from online navigation Maps, veered onto an under-construction flyover and plunged into an unfinished section. The accident occurred at Bhaiya Farenda, along National Highway 24—part of the vital Gorakhpur-Sonauli corridor connecting India with Nepal.

The vehicle, which had multiple occupants including the driver, ended up teetering dangerously in a pit on the incomplete portion of the flyover. Miraculously, all passengers escaped unhurt, narrowly avoiding a fatal disaster.

 An Illusion of Safety

Local residents revealed that one section of the flyover appears complete and gives the impression of a fully functional road. Smooth and unmarked, it seamlessly guides drivers onto the elevated path. However, just ahead, the other side remains under construction, with soil-filling work still underway.

As the car ascended the flyover in the dead of night, the absence of warning signs or barricades left the driver unaware of the looming danger. Upon reaching the top, the driver was shocked to spot a gaping pit. Despite slamming the brakes, there wasn’t enough time to halt the vehicle. The car plunged into the unfinished area and became stuck—tilted precariously but thankfully without rolling over.

A Community Outraged

Locals who rushed to the scene criticized the construction company for gross negligence. They pointed out that the incomplete road was neither barricaded nor marked with any hazard signs, putting unsuspecting commuters at serious risk. Many expressed outrage, calling the accident “entirely preventable.”

Official Response

In response to the incident, the Maharajganj district administration has launched an inquiry. Officials have assured that those found responsible for the lapse in safety protocols will face strict action.

Farenda police station in-charge Prashant Pathak confirmed that he was informed about the mishap early Tuesday morning. By the time authorities reached the site, the car had already been removed with the help of a crane, and the occupants had left the scene.
