Bulletproof Vehicle, SWAT Commandos, Marksman On Standby For Tahawwur Rana

The Delhi Police Special Cell has been placed on alert and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commandos have already been deployed at the Palam Technical Airport.

The 26/11 attack accused Tahawwur Rana, who is being extradited to India from the US, will be taken to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Headquarters in a bulletproof vehicle. He will land at the Palam Technical Airport from where he will be transported to the NIA headquarters.

According to sources, in addition to the bulletproof vehicle, a 'Marksman' vehicle has also been kept on standby. The Marksman vehicle is a highly secure vehicle that is resistant to any form of attack. It is commonly used by the Special Cell to transport high-risk individuals such as terrorists and gangsters, to courts and agency offices.

The Delhi Police Special Cell has been placed on alert and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commandos have already been deployed at the airport.

Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is being brought to India on a special flight on Thursday after his final attempt to evade extradition failed as the US Supreme Court justices rejected his application.

Delhi Court Receives Trial Records Of 26/11 Attack

Ahead of his arrival in India, a Delhi court has received the trial records of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks from the US, news agency PTI reported citing a court source. The trial court records were previously sent to Mumbai due to the presence of multiple cases related to the 26/11 attacks in both cities.

The records were recently submitted to the court of District Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav, following his January 28 directive instructing the staff of a Mumbai court to forward them. The order was issued in response to an application filed by the NIA in Delhi, requesting the transfer of the records from Mumbai.

Rana will be produced before a court virtually and then taken into judicial custody after landing in India. He will be kept in a high-security ward in Tihar Jail.

On November 26, 2008, ten Pakistani terrorists launched a coordinated attack in Mumbai after infiltrating the city via the Arabian Sea. They targeted key locations, including a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish centre. They killed 166 people in a siege that lasted for nearly 60 hours.
