Bomb Threat Sent To Bombay Stock Exchange In Name Of 'Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan'

The Bombay Stock Exchange received a bomb threat through an email sent from an ID bearing the name "Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan." The message claimed that RDX-based IEDs had been planted and were set to detonate at 3 PM. Police and bomb disposal teams conducted a thorough search of the premises but did not find anything suspicious. An FIR has been registered at the MRA Marg Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is underway.
A case has been registered against an unidentified individual at the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg Police Station under sections 351(1)(b), 353(2), 351(3), and 351(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is currently underway.
The action follows a bomb threat targeting Amritsar's iconic Golden Temple on Monday. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) lodged a formal police complaint after receiving the threat via email.
Confirming the incident, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated, “We received a complaint from SGPC authorities about an email threatening a blast at the Golden Temple. We are taking assistance from the state cybercrime unit and other agencies.”
Police have intensified security around the Golden Temple and are working with cyber experts to trace the origin of the threat.
On Monday, at least three schools in Delhi also received bomb threats in the morning, a Delhi police official had informed. The Delhi police had received calls regarding the bomb threats at around 8 am, from CRPF Schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16, as well as another school in Chanakyapuri, prompting emergency services to be kicked in, a Delhi Police official said.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) received a bomb threat via email from an unknown source on the night of July 13, it said in a statement issued Tuesday.
"On the night of July 13, BSE received a bomb threat via email from an unknown ID. As a precautionary measure, BSE has stepped up its diligence and supervision at its premises immediately and filed an FIR," the statement read.
"All relevant authorities have been informed of the said mail. Preliminary checks carried out by the relevant authorities have not found any suspicious elements. The Exchange's operations remain unaffected and continue as normal," it added.
The BSE also extended its gratitude to the Mumbai police and emergency response teams for their swift and professional action.
