Bihar Cabinet Expansion At 4 PM Today, These 7 BJP MLAs Likely To Be Inducted

Earlier in the day, BJP state President Dilip Jaiswal stepped down as Revenue Minister.

The Bihar cabinet expansion will take place today at 4 pm, with the induction of seven new ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

According to sources, the seven MLAs who will join Nitish Kumar's Cabinet are Sanjay Saraogi (Darbhanga), Sunil Kumar (Biharsharif), Jibesh Kumar (Jale), Rahu Kumar Singh (Sahebganj), Moti Lal Prasad (Riga), Vijay Kumar Mandal (Sikti), and Krishan Kumar Mantoo (Amnour).

Earlier in the day, BJP state President Dilip Jaiswal stepped down as Revenue Minister.

"I am going to resign from the post of Revenue Minister. 'One person, one post' is the principle on which the party works. I am thankful that the central leadership has given me the responsibility of the party's state unit. Cabinet expansion is the prerogative of the Chief Minister," he said.

Presently, the Bihar cabinet comprises 30 ministers, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and two Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. It has 15 BJP ministers, 13 JD(U), one from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and an Independent.

While Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha leads three departments, state ministers Mangal Pandey and Nitish Mishra head two each. Several BJP ministers currently head more than one department in Bihar.

The expansion comes just two days before the commencement of the Bihar Budget Session on Friday, February 28.

The cabinet can accommodate up to 36 ministers, leaving room for the inclusion of new members. This cabinet reshuffle highlights the state's commitment to a balanced representation ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.
