As Disha Salian's Father Seeks Fresh Probe Into Her Death, Here's A Timeline Of The Controversial Case

Disha Salian's father has approached the Bombay HC demanding an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and to transfer the investigation regarding her daughter's death to the CBI.

Nearly five years after Disha Salian's death, her father, Satish Salian, filed a petition with the Bombay High Court on Wednesday (March 20) seeking a fresh probe into his daughter's death.

He approached the Bombay High Court demanding an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and to transfer the investigation to the CBI. The plea alleges that Salian, who was the former manager of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was "brutally raped and murdered." He has alleged a politically orchestrated cover-up to protect certain influential individuals.

The plea also contends that the Mumbai Police concluded Salian's death as a case of suicide or accidental death without considering forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness testimonies.

Disha Salian, a 28-year-old celebrity manager, was found dead after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. The Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) at that time.

Aaditya Thackeray reacted to the claims against him regarding his alleged involvement in orchestrating a smear campaign against him. He slammed the Maharashtra government for "tarnishing his image" and said he would present his case in court.

Disha Salian Death Case Timeline

June 8, 2020
Disha Salian fell to her death from the 14th-floor apartment in Malad, Mumbai, in the early hours of the morning. The 28-year-old was found at around 1:45 AM on the ground below the building, prompting an immediate investigation by Mumbai Police. Initial reports suggested that her death was a suicide, but details surrounding the incident were still unclear.

June 9, 2020
Mumbai Police officially launched an investigation into her death. It was reported that she had been at a party with friends before the tragic incident. According to the police, no foul play was suspected at that time, and the cause of death was believed to be self-inflicted. The police collected evidence from the scene and questioned individuals who were present at the party.

June 10, 2020
Speculation surrounding Disha Salian’s death began to grow in the media, with many raising doubts about the initial findings. Some reports claimed that there might have been a conspiracy or possible involvement of influential people. Rumours began circulating, partly due to the fact that Sushant Singh Rajput, a prominent Bollywood actor, had been Disha’s former client and died under similar circumstances a week later.

June 14, 2020
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence, leading to widespread media coverage. This development further fuelled speculation about a connection between Rajput’s death and Salian’s. As public interest increased, theories emerged that the two deaths were linked by a broader conspiracy.

June 16, 2020
Salian’s family issued a statement urging the media to avoid sensationalism. They requested that the police investigation into her death proceed without external interference. The family clarified that Disha had been in a good mental state prior to her death and asked the public to refrain from spreading unfounded rumours.

June 20, 2020
The Mumbai Police continued to maintain that Salian's death appeared to be a suicide, reiterating there was no evidence of foul play. They stated that she had been with her friends and colleagues at the time of the incident, and initial investigations had not revealed anything suspicious.

July 2020
As the investigations into both Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and Disha Salian’s continued, multiple conspiracy theories emerged. These theories suggested that the deaths were linked to powerful figures within the Bollywood industry or other influential circles. The police reaffirmed their position that no criminal elements had been found in Disha’s case, while also noting the ongoing investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

August 2020
While public and media interest in Sushant’s case increased, the investigation into Salian's death remained under the jurisdiction of Mumbai Police. No new developments were reported regarding her case. However, her death continued to be linked to the wider narrative surrounding Sushant Singh's demise.

September 2020
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, while Disha Salian’s case remained under the purview of the Mumbai Police. Inquiries into both cases continued in parallel, though no significant updates were provided concerning her death.

October 2020
Mumbai Police continued to assert that Salian’s death had been a suicide, with no evidence to suggest foul play. The case remained closed, with the authorities concluding that there was no criminal activity involved in her death. The investigation into her death was ultimately filed as inconclusive, though conspiracy theories persisted in the public domain.

March 2021
A final report by the Mumbai Police officially closed the investigation into Disha Salian’s death, confirming that the case had been treated as a suicide. No evidence of foul play was found, and the report concluded that her tragic fall was not the result of any criminal actions. The case, while officially closed, remains a subject of debate due to the ongoing conspiracy theories and media attention.

June 2024
BJP minister Nitesh Rane claimed that Disha Salian was murdered, alleging that the CCTV footage vanished and the visitor logs were torn. He also sought Aaditya Thackeray's resignation, asking him to "speak the truth" and "face the probe". Following this, the Mumbai Police sent a notice to Rane, asking him to appear before them on June 12 for questioning and ask what evidence of the murder he has.

March 19, 2025
Salian's father Satish Salian approached the Bombay High Court after nearly five years after his daughter's death, seeking the case be reopened. He has also demanded an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and a probe by CBI.
