UP: Bike-Borne Assailants Open Fire On School Bus With 28 Children Onboard In Amroha, Accused Arrested

Amroha SP, Kunwar Anupam Singh, said the case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Further legal action is being taken.

Miscreants opened fire at the school bus in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The bus, carrying children from SRS International School, managed to escape the attack without any injuries to the students.

As per the reports, the attackers blocked the bus with their bikes and began firing at it. However, the bus driver, Monty, sped away and drove directly to the police station. There were 28 children on board at the time of the incident.

"A school bus driver informed the police that two-three people stopped the bus and fired at the vehicle. Senior officials reached the spot soon after receiving the information and inspected the area. A case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Further legal action is being taken," Amroha SP, Kunwar Anupam Singh told the news agency PTI.

Investigation Launch

As soon as the news of the incident came to light, the police reached the spot and began investigation questioning locals and inspecting the area. According to the police, the initial investigation disclosed that the bus driver Monty had an altercation with local youths on October 21 over an accident, which appears to have motivated the attack.

In response, the Bus driver, Monty, reported that at 7.40 am while transporting children to school, the gunmen began chasing the bus from a kilometre away. Seizing an opportunity, they blocked the bus with their bike and opened fire.

The children on board were terrified but unharmed, and all were safely handed over to their families. The police have registered a complaint, and further investigations are ongoing.
