Delhi: Cross-Firing In Jahangirpuri Area Kills 35-Year-Old Man, Injures 2 Others

In Delhi, a 35-year-old man was killed and two others injured in cross-firing in Jahangirpuri.

New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) A 35-year-old man was killed while two others sustained bullet injuries in an incident of cross-firing in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak alias Patrakar, they said.

"Information was received from the BJRM Hospital regarding a man brought with multiple bullet injuries, who was declared dead," a senior police officer said.

He said subsequently, information was received from the hospital regarding the admission of two men -- Narendra and Suraj -- with bullet injuries.

A police team was rushed to the spot for a detailed investigation, the officer added.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that there was a verbal spat between Deepak, his brother and others, and Narendra and Suraj at a park.

"Both the parties opened fire at each other. Deepak sustained injuries on his neck, both legs and on his back. Narendra was hit by a bullet in his back and Suraj received injuries in his leg. Deepak was declared dead," the officer said, adding that an FIR under relevant legal provisions has been registered. 

Delhi Police nabs 5 in Welcome firing case, recovers pistols 

New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) Delhi Police has arrested five men suspected to be involved in a gun battle in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi, an officer said on Sunday.

The accused were identified as Samad, 28, Shanu, 30, Kasim, 23, Hasim, 22, and Mohammad Noor, 22, the officer said.

On Saturday, around 17 rounds were fired in a gun battle between two groups over money near the locality's Raja Market.

A 22-year-old woman named Ifra was shot in the chest during the firing and was rushed to a hospital where she is currently under treatment.

"We have launched further investigation into the matter to know the main reason behind the firing incident," said the officer.

Three pistols, some country-made weapons, and live and empty rounds were found in possession of the accused, police said.
