4-Year-Old Boy Killed By Speeding SUV In Mumbai, 19-Year-Old Driver Arrested

The accused has been arrested, police said, adding that a case has been registered. Police said they would take his blood samples to check whether he was under the influence of alcohol.

A four-year-old boy was killed by a speeding car driven by a 19-year-old man in Mumbai. The tragic accident occurred when the young boy,  Ayush Laxman Kinvade, was walking near the footpath where his family lives. The boy was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead, as per a report published in Times Of India.

The accused has been arrested, police said, adding that a case has been registered. Police said they would take his blood samples to check whether he was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.

The incident comes just days after a driver in Mumbai lost control of the electric bus operated by the civic-run Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus and hit several passengers and vehicles. Seven people were killed and 42 others were injured in the accident.

The bus driver was later arrested and booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or substances), 118 (2) (causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or harmful methods), police said.

The police further said they needed to probe if the driver used the bus in his possession as a "weapon" and drove it recklessly in a congested area, endangering the lives of passengers and pedestrians.

It was necessary to investigate if the accused had received the training to drive the bus and if he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash, they told the court.

The police maintained the transport department was yet to examine the bus involved in the accident.
