Police in Belagavi, Karnataka, have arrested two individuals and are searching for four others in connection with a deeply disturbing case involving the alleged gangrape of a 15-year-old girl.

Authorities in Belagavi, Karnataka, have arrested two individuals and are actively searching for four others in connection with a deeply disturbing case involving the alleged gangrape of a 15-year-old girl. The victim reportedly endured two separate incidents of sexual assault by a group of six accused.

15-year-old blackmailed and gangraped in Karnataka

In the initial occurrence, the perpetrators allegedly recorded the act, subsequently using the footage to blackmail the girl with threats of public dissemination. This coercion, it is reported, directly led to the second incident of gangrape.

According to statements provided by the police, the first assault took place approximately six months ago. It is alleged that one of the accused, who was known to the minor, lured her to a hilly area situated on the outskirts of Belagavi. There, she was gangraped, and the act was documented on a mobile phone.

The accused then commenced a campaign of blackmail against the girl, threatening to release the video online. This sustained threat, police indicate, was the catalyst for the second incident. During this subsequent assault, the accused again recorded the act, and the threats persisted.

Ultimately, the girl demonstrated considerable bravery by filing a formal police complaint yesterday, which resulted in the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR).

The police have officially registered the FIR under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with other pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. On the same day the FIR was filed, two individuals implicated in the case were successfully arrested. Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an extensive search operation to locate and arrest the remaining accused individuals involved in this serious crime.
