Zepto CEO Palicha Applauds His Team, Says Employees Work 80-100 Hours Every Week

The CEO, Aadit Palicha, shared that his employees are genuinely focused on building something, therefore, they don’t mind putting in the hours

Zepto CEO, Aadit Palicha, recently said that the quick commerce player’s employees work for 80 to 100 hours a week. Talking about the work culture in his company at the NDTV World Summit, the executive lauded his team for their hard work and credited it to the firm’s rapid climb to touch a market valuation of $5 billion.

The quick commerce player’s CEO said that his company values passion and prioritises purpose over personal financial gain. He shared that his employees are genuinely focused on building something, therefore, they don’t mind putting in the hours, reported Moneycontrol.

“Candidly, working 80-100 hours a week, we could have probably worked half of that with a lot less stress... At a certain point, money becomes inconsequential. We love what we're building, we work like crazy, and we're genuinely so excited about what we're creating. It's not really about money or personal wealth,” Palicha noted.

Notably, the debate on work-life balance has been going on for quite some time. The matter became heated after Infosys founder Narayana Murthy last year urged the youth to put in 70 hours every week at work. While there are supporters of the hustle culture, the younger generations have been arguing for placing importance on mental health and personal wellbeing.

Further, Palicha said that he remained optimistic about his company’s potential to change the start-up game in the country. He said in comparison to foreign players, internet companies have not managed to reach the same heights in India. “We think we have a shot at really building out an exciting company, and if we do it, there's a huge amount of value that we'll add—not just to shareholders and capital markets, but to the startup ecosystem at large,” he added. The quick commerce player was founded by Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra back in July 2021.
