Wheat Exports Rise By 30% To $1.5 Billion For April-November Period: Commerce Ministry
The outbound shipments of agricultural and processed food products also rose by 16 per cent in the eight months of the current fiscal to $17.43 billion.
Wheat export has registered an increase of 29.29 per cent during April-November period of the current fiscal. The kitchen staple's export has risen to $1.50 billion in April-November 2022 from $1.17 billion the same period the previous year, the Commerce Ministry said on Friday.
According to the latest press release by the ministry, the outbound shipments of agricultural and processed food products also rose by 16 per cent in the eight months of the current fiscal to $17.43 billion.
“For 2022-23, an export target of $23.56 billion has been fixed for the agricultural and processed food products basket and an export of $17.435 billion has already been achieved in eight months of the current fiscal," the ministry said.
In May, the government had banned wheat exports. However, some shipments are allowed due to the requests of countries in the need of the grain.
The ministry said Basmati rice export increased by 39.26 per cent to $2.87 billion during April-November 2022, while non-basmati rice export grew by 5 per cent to $4.2 billion in the same period.

Fresh fruits worth $991 million were shipped during April-November 2022 compared with $954 million in the corresponding months of the previous fiscal. The export of pulses increased by 90.49 per cent in eight months of the current fiscal to $392 million.
Dairy products exports grew by 33.77 per cent to $421 million in April-November 2022 from $315 million in the year-ago period.
The ministry said that the country achieved 74 per cent of its total export target for the year 2022-23 in eight months of the current fiscal. For the year 2022-23, an export target of $23.56 billion has been fixed for the agricultural and processed food products basket, and export of $17.435 billion have already been achieved.
