Another high profile exit at WhatsApp; Chief Business Officers Neeraj Arora quits after serving for 7 yrs
Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp Chief Business Officer, recently announced that he would be taking some time off to recharge and spend time with his family.
New Delhi: Roughly a year after WhatsApp co-founder Brain Acton made an exit from Facebook, another high profile employee of the instant messaging application has decided to part ways. Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp Chief Business Officer, recently announced that he would be taking some time off to recharge and spend time with his family. The Facebook-owned firm has witnessed three major exoduses with another co-founder Jan Koum announcing his exit earlier this year over data privacy concerns. Arora has been one of the core members of WhatApp leadership since 2011 and has played a significant role in company’s acquisition by social media giant Facebook in 2014. Before joining WhatsApp, Arora worked with tech giant Google.
Arora announced his exit in a Facebook post. “It is hard to believe that it has been seven years since Jan (Koum) and Brian (Acton) got me onboard at WhatsApp, and it has been one hell of a ride,” Arora said in a post on Tuesday.
“I am deeply indebted to Jan and Brian, who entrusted me to be their business companion for so many years,” he added. Speaking to news agency IANS, a WhatsApp spokesperson said, “WhatsApp is grateful for the dedication, focus, and outstanding work of our early leaders and team. We remain deeply committed to providing a way for people to communicate privately now and in the future.”
Arora was also rumoured to be one of the frontrunners to replace Koum as the CEO of the company. “It’s time to move on, but I cannot be more proud of how WhatsApp continues to touch people in so many different ways every day. I am confident that WhatsApp will continue to be the simple, secure and trusted communication product for years to come,” Arora’s post read further.
In a massive setback to Facebook, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum decided to resign from his position amid reports that he had a difference of opinion with parent company over data privacy, encryption and other issues.
