Uber Drivers Will Now Be Able To See Your Trip Destination Before Accepting Ride. Check Details

The company said it had done a pilot project in May on a similar which yielded encouraging results in the reduction of trip cancellations.

New Delhi: Cab-hailing platform Uber India on Thursday said its drivers would have the option to see the final destination of the traveler before they acknowledge the ride as it hopes to eliminate trip undoing post-booking of the outing, as reported by news agency PTI. The latest move follows feedback that the ride-hailing application got from its National Driver Advisory Council which was sent off in March 2022 to work with a two-way dialogue among Uber and drivers across six metro urban cities to resolve key issues.

"To enhance transparency and remove frustration for riders and drivers, drivers on the Uber platform across India will now be able to see the trip destination before they decide to accept the ride," Uber said in a statement as quoted PTI.

The company said it had done a pilot project in May on a similar which yielded encouraging results in the reduction of trip cancellations. 

"Uber has decided to do away with the trip acceptance threshold and rolled out the unconditional feature to all cities. Uber will continue monitoring feedback from drivers and riders and make changes if required," the ride-hailing firm said.

To additionally work with the simplicity of carrying on with work on its platform, Uber has now presented an OTP-based login that will assist drivers with signing in to the application in a problem-free and helpful way without the need to remember passwords or other details.

In light of the conversation during the second meeting of its driver advisory council, Uber additionally took cognizance of normal issues faced by drivers and provided solutions.

Uber Auto and Moto drivers will currently have a Home telephone button added to their Uber application to call for help when required. To address feedback from Moto drivers about lack of awareness about waiting charges, Uber will currently send a message pop-up to riders about waiting charges when they book a trip, the statement said.

"Drivers at the airport often faced an operational challenge as they had to pay for airport charges upfront and later get reimbursed. However, now Uber has introduced cashless operations at airports in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore," Uber said.

After the first meeting of the Driver Advisory Council, Uber presented a few changes which incorporate up to a 15 percent increment in charges to counterbalance the expense of rising fuel costs, a long-distance pick-up fee to remunerate drivers when they go a significant distance to get riders and changed payment frequency to all non-weekend days for drivers to get online payment transfer etc.

The Driver Advisory Council involves 37 drivers browsed six metros after a painstakingly created three-section process shown to an Independent Review Board.

These drivers work across a scope of item contributions accessible on Uber including vehicles, auto-rickshaws, and motorbikes, and address the interests of a huge number of drivers on the platform.
