Tata Power Renewable Energy Enters Into Agreement To Build 13.2 MW Group Captive Solar Plant

After this agreement, the overall renewable capacity of TPREL will reach 8,237 MW, which would include 4,107 MW of projects in different phases of production and an operating capacity of 4,220 MW.

Tata Power Renewable Energy said on Wednesday that it entered into an agreement with Dr Abhay Firodia Group of Companies - Force Motors Ltd and Jaya Hind Industries Pvt Ltd - to build a 13.2 MW group captive solar plant. 

The company issued a statement and said, “Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) entered into a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of Companies -- Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited -- for supplying green power for 25 years under Group Captive scheme.”

Under the scheme, a power plant is developed for the collective usage of multiple consumers. The company said that this collaboration marks a significant step in moving towards sustainable energy solutions for industrial usage, reported PTI. 

According to the agreement, the company said that Force Motors Ltd, a fully vertically integrated automobile firm, would use 6.2 MW AC power and consume 13.64 million units (MUs) annually. Jaya Hind, would use 7 MW AC power, and consume 15.40 MUs annually. 

The plant is located at Achegaon in Maharashtra and has a capacity of 13.2 MW AC, and generates 29.04 MUs power annually. It is expected to lower carbon emissions by approximately 21,200 metric tonnes per year, the firm said. 

The whole project is anticipated to be completed within 12 months from the signing of the power delivery agreement. Tata Power would oversee the development, management, and maintenance of the group's captive solar plant. 

Tata Power Renewable Energy, MD and CEO, Deepesh Nanda, said, “It will set new benchmarks in the automotive sector towards adoption of clean energy for environmentally conscious future.” The firm said that both Force Motors and Jaya Hind Industries would benefit from the clean and reliable power supply from the plant and actively contribute to environmental sustainability. 

TPREL is a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd. After this agreement, the overall renewable capacity of TPREL will reach 8,237 MW, which would include 4,107 MW of projects in different phases of production and an operating capacity of 4,220 MW, out of which 3,201 MW would be generated from solar projects and 1,019 MW from wind projects.
