Meta Fires 20 Employees For THIS Reason, Says Report; Check Details Here

In recent months, Meta has been working to curb leaks as it introduced significant policy changes, such as the elimination of company-wide DEI programs and the reduction of content moderation

Mark Zuckerberg's Meta has reportedly fired around 20 employees for "leaking confidential information outside the company," according to a report by The Verge, citing a company spokesperson.

Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold told The Verge, "We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent."

“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more. We take this seriously, and will continue to take action when we identify leaks.” Arnold added.

In recent months, Meta has been working to curb leaks as it introduced significant policy changes, such as the elimination of company-wide DEI programs and the reduction of content moderation on its social media platforms. These efforts to strengthen internal controls seem to be focused on preventing details of these changes from being disclosed publicly.

These efforts have been viewed by many as a shift in Meta's policy as it seeks to align more closely with the new administration under Donald Trump. Meta had also recently agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Trump after the company suspended his accounts following the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, according to sources.

Recently, Zuckerberg expressed his frustration over internal Meta conversations being leaked during a meeting, which was later leaked and shared by 404 Media. Allegedly, Zuckerberg said, "We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks."

Earlier this month, Meta laid off around 3,000 employees, or nearly 5 per cent of its workforce, in a move aimed at "low performers." At the same time, the company is intensifying its focus on AI, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg pledging a $65 billion investment in the field. He has also set a goal to make Meta AI the leading AI assistant in the market.
