'It Is Exposing Bad Talent Faster': CRED's Kunal Shah On AI's Impact
"Bangalore startups are increasing using AI to be hyper-productive. But it seems only 20 percent are breathing AI. Rest are waiting for a sign," he wrote

CRED Founder and CEO, Kunal Shah, recently shared an intriguing observation about the impact of AI on talent identification through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter). Shah highlighted how AI is accelerating the process of uncovering poor talent. He wrote, "AI is causing an interesting second order impact. It’s exposing bad talent faster."
He elaborated, "Earlier bad talent could hide behind long cycles of iteration but as feedback loops are getting faster with AI, there’s no place to hide for them. Exciting times."

Earlier bad talent could hide behind long cycles of iteration but as feedback loops are getting faster with AI, there’s no place to hide for them.
Exciting times.
Additionally, Shah discussed the broader impact of AI advancements on software development. In another post, he pointed out that while AI tools are significantly reducing both time and cost in building software, efficiency alone doesn’t guarantee success. He compared it to construction, saying, "AI cutting down software development time and cost is like cheaper and faster construction of a building. You still need the right location and architecture. Speed alone won’t guarantee success.”
Advocate For AI
Kunal Shah has been a strong advocate for the transformative power of AI. Just last week, he discussed a notable shift in Bengaluru's startup ecosystem towards adopting AI and stressed the importance for startups to fully embrace it. In a social media post, he pointed out that while many Bengaluru startups are using AI to enhance productivity, only around 20 per cent have fully integrated AI into their operations.
"Bangalore startups are increasing using AI to be hyper-productive. But it seems only 20 percent are breathing AI. Rest are waiting for a sign," he wrote.
Kunal Shah has also shared insights into how AI has impacted his personal life. In a recent discussion, he mentioned that AI has ushered in a new era of innovation, with tools like ChatGPT making him "10x more efficient in sharing ideas with the team."
