CEO Fires 99 Employees Over Missed Morning Meeting, Sparks Outrage

The CEO further ordered terminated employees to return company property, sign out of all accounts, and leave the Slack workspace immediately

A US-based CEO has come under fire after abruptly dismissing 99 of his 110 employees for failing to attend a morning meeting. The incident came to light through a Reddit post by an intern, who shared the CEO's announcement made via a Slack message.

The intern, who claimed to have joined the company just an hour before being fired, posted a copy of the CEO's message. Identifying himself as Baldvin, the CEO reportedly launched into a tirade, criticising the employees for missing the meeting and accusing them of failing to honour their commitments.

"For those of you who did not show up to the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: you're all fired," the message read. "You failed to do what you agreed to, you failed to complete your part of the contract, and you failed to show up to the meetings you were supposed to attend and work for."

The CEO further ordered terminated employees to return company property, sign out of all accounts, and leave the Slack workspace immediately. "Out of 110 people, only 11 were present this morning. Those 11 get to stay. The rest of you are terminated. Get the f*** out of my business right now," the message continued.

The intern, who had not been notified about the meeting, described the ordeal as chaotic, stating that they lacked access to the required resources to even begin their work.

Backlash on Social Media

The incident has ignited widespread outrage online. The Reddit post has garnered over 19,000 upvotes and nearly 2,000 comments, with many sympathising with the employees and criticizing the CEO’s behaviour.

“Seems like you dodged a bullet there. I doubt the work environment will improve,” one commenter wrote. Another noted, “Only 11 people showed up, and he doesn’t consider that maybe there was a communication issue?”

CEO Identified as Baldvin Oddsson

Online sleuths identified the CEO as Baldvin Oddsson, founder of a company called The Musicians Club. Oddsson’s LinkedIn profile, which features a “hiring” badge, has since been flooded with criticism. "Your lack of social skills is all over Reddit, bud," one user commented. Another added, “Baldvin, you’re famous. Why are you deleting your posts?”

This incident is the latest in a series of controversial mass firings by CEOs. In September, an Indian mental health startup drew criticism for firing employees who liked a post about toxic workplaces.

The situation continues to spark debate, raising questions about workplace culture, employee treatment, and management accountability.
