Airtel Loses Over 46 Lakh Customers In May While Jio Gains More Than 35.5 Lakh Subscribers
Amidst the second wave of Covid-19 in India, the number of customers of mobile phone services has come down to 1176 million. Airtel and Vodafone-Idea have lost millions of customers.
Mumbai: According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Bharti Airtel lost 46.13 lakh mobile service customers. At the same time, its competitor Reliance Jio has added 35.54 lakh customers to its existing database. The Indian mobile market saw a decrease of 62.7 lakh users in May.

Jio added 35.54 lakh mobile users, with which the number of its subscribers increased to 431.2 million. In May, both Airtel and Vodafone-Idea lost a large number of customers. According to the data released by TRAI for the month of May, Airtel lost 46.13 lakh mobile users and the number of its subscribers decreased to 348 million.
Vodafone-Idea also lost many customers
Apart from this, the number of mobile customers of Vodafone Idea has come down by 42.8 lakh users, after which the number of its users has come down to 277 million.
India's total mobile subscriber base has declined by 62.7 lakh, and with this, the number of mobile phone service customers has come down to 117.6 million amid the second wave of Covid-19 in the country.
