Adani Airports Log 7 Per Cent Growth In Cargo Handling In FY24

The cargo tonnage of the firm touched 9,44,912 MT in FY23. The firm informed that it accounted for 30.1 per cent of the market share in the industry

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) clocked a surge in cargo handling in the 2023-24 fiscal year (FY24). The company said that it handled more than 10 lakh metric tonne (MT) of cargo in FY24, logging a gain of 7 per cent against the preceding 2022-23 fiscal year (FY23). 

The cargo tonnage of the firm touched 9,44,912 MT in FY23. The firm informed that it accounted for 30.1 per cent of the market share in the industry. Further, the cargo operations of the company remained majorly international, with 65 per cent of global cargo managed. 

The international cargo tonnage of the firm stood at 6,62,258 MT, up by 9 per cent against 6,06,348 MT handled a year earlier. “This showcases AAHL's efficiency in managing worldwide operations while maintaining a robust domestic presence,” the firm said.

These operations were dominated by commodities, such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, electricals/electronics, engineering goods, and perishables. Major global destinations for cargo included Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA. 

Airports that handled the cargo were the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad), the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow), the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, the Mangaluru International Airport, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati) and the Jaipur International Airport.

The company also saw the Mumbai International Airport make a new record in the fiscal year for peak volumes. The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow also clocked a record-high volume of 700 MT in March 2024.

Commenting on the firm’s performance, CEO Arun Bansal said, “At Adani Airport Holdings Limited, we have been consistently setting new benchmarks for operational efficiency. The cargo terminals have achieved a remarkable milestone, handling over 1 million tonnes this fiscal year. This achievement solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India.”
