Tata To Launch Tiago CNG Soon — Know How Buyers Can Save On Fuel Spend
Unlike the regular petrol variants of the Tiago, the CNG trim will only get a manual variant.
Tata Motors has teased its next product and it is the CNG version of its Tigor plus its Tiago. Currently, the Tiago would be the first to get this with the Tigor following soon. Both the cars will come with factory-fitted CNG kits. There would be no changes other than that and we expect the power figures to stay the same. The engine would be the 1.2l petrol motor with 86bhp, though, in CNG form, the power would be reduced a bit.
Unlike the regular petrol variants of the Tiago, the CNG trim will only get a manual variant. Prices would rise but the extra cost would be much lower when compared to savings you get from CNG. Even though CNG prices have increased, the price per km cost of having a CNG still works out to be less than Rs 2 per km.
That means it is a lot cheaper to run than a petrol car. With petrol prices rising and with EVs still being far away in terms of being practical, the CNG route is still being preferred by many. Even though there is a long wait at CNG stations and less number of CNG stations per car sold, there is a promise of stations coming to reduce waiting time.
Currently, only a few carmakers like Maruti and Hyundai offer factory-fitted CNG cars but Tata Motors is all set to launch its first ones and we can also see the Altroz getting a CNG option soon.
