Will The 2022 Tata Tiago Electric Be Most Affordable EV? Know Specifications, Features

The Tiago is expected at a lower price point which will further bring more buyers into EVs but the question is how Tata plans to price it and mix performance with the range.

New Delhi: Tata has revealed that it is launching a new EV and that is the Tiago EV. They will launch the newest electric car in their portfolio on the 28th of this month and the Tiago EV would also be the most affordable electric car in India along with being the first mass-market EV hatchback. We think the specifications would be the same as the Tigor EV with a new permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with 75 bhp. The battery pack is expected to be 26kWh along with an IP67 rating of course. It is interesting how the range will pan out though we expect the Tiago EV to have more or less the same range as the Tigor EV at 306km.

This is a more modern battery pack and the EV powertrain while enabling the car to be compliant with a fast charger. Like the Tigor EV, the Tiago EV will get more blue accents and a lot of features though final specs along with features are something that we will hear in a few days at its launch. It is also interesting how the battery pack would be positioned and how it will affect the boot space of the Tiago.

However, currently, the Tigor EV is the most affordable EV and the entry of the Tiago at an expected lower price point will further bring more buyers into EVs but the question is how Tata plans to price it and mix performance with the range. Tata Motors continues to taste success with the Nexon EV which has no rivals though, in the coming times, more EVs are planned in this space. However, there is still sometime away before hatchback EVs come in which means that the Tiago EV will have this space all to itself.
