Skoda Kylaq SUV First Look Review: Should You Buy?
Skoda Kylaq comes with seven colours and four variants
We now know the prices of the Kylaq and the top-end trim is priced at Rs 13.3 lakh for the manual as seen here along with the top-end automatic being priced at Rs 14.4 lakh. Skoda Kylaq comes with seven colours and four variants.
We recently spent some time with the car away from the launch floor and that gave us a crucial idea on where the Kylaq stands in its class. Competition is no doubt tough in the sub 4m SUV space with numerous rivals all around but the Kylaq does have a few stand out highlights. For us, the styling is typically Skoda but also not too related to bigger brother Kushaq as well with the slimmer grille along with the split DRL/Headlamp treatment.
While being under 4m, the proportions are balanced plus there is a lot of cladding along with a generous 189 mm ground clearance which also fits the bill. Roof rails, some interesting round tail-lamps are the further design details.
Compared to rivals, it looks different and that's a key element. Inside, the baby Skoda has the same tough build as seen with the way the door closes while the cabin is an all black affair mixed with grey elements. A familiar two spoke steering is seen plus a digital cluster along with a 10-inch screen while below you get touch AC controls. The infotainment is slightly different though from other Skoda cars.
The feature list includes a cooled glovebox, dual powered seats with ventilation, sunroof (with anti-pinch), rear camera, digital dials, 6 airbags, climate control, push button start/stop etc Space we found to be slightly better than some rivals while being more of a four seater at beats but importantly there is a middle headrest too.
The boot space is also better than rivals at 446 litres (360l with parcel tray). The standard engine and there is only one, is a 1.0 TSI turbo petrol with 115bhp and 178Nm while you get either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter with paddle shifters. The pricing is pretty good value for what's on offer but the talking point here is the looks, driving experience and the 1.0 TSI while the equipment list is pretty good too. Skoda has come well prepared it seems.
