New Maruti Swift Is Now The Best Selling Car Of India, Punch Is Second

The new 2024 Swift is now the best selling car in India as it sold a whopping 19,393 in its first month of being on sale. The new Swift was launched on May 9 and comes with a price tag of Rs 6.49 lakh. The top-end model is Rs 9.5 lakh. Just like the earlier model, the new Swift comes with AMT and manual options with buyers preferring the VXI trims along with the AMT also getting a good chunk of the buyers. The new Swift has gotten off to a brilliant start with the No.1 position and has brought back the crown.

The Punch, which earlier held the crown, is at the second position with sales of 18.949 units, respectively, which includes the new Punch EV as well along with the ICE version. The Punch has been the current start and now the Swift is also here. While we have earlier also said that SUVs are now being prefered, the Swift maintains its loyal fanbase while Maruti has also increased its biggest USP- the fuel efficiency.

The new Swift of course delivers much better fuel efficiency at 25.75 kmpl mileage which is a lot more than the earlier one. This certainly would have contributed to the sales of this hatchback even more. The new Swift has the new Z Series three cylinder engine which is more efficient than the earlier one.

For Maruti, the new Swift has overtaken the Wagon R as the new best selling model and is now India's no.1 selling car. It is certainly interesting and has brought back the limelight on hatchbacks.
