New Hyundai Inster Is An Ideal Rival To Tata Punch EV? Check Here

The Inster is based on the Casper but gets slightly different design details while the side view is still the same

Small EVs are the order of the day and Tata Motors has been successful with its Punch EV and now globally, Hyundai has shown the Inster EV which is in-turn based on the Casper, a small SUV, which never came to India since we got the Exter.

The Inster is based on the Casper but gets slightly different design details while the side view is still the same. The front-end meanwhile gets LED daytime running light signature and pixel-graphic turn signals.

The top-end Inster also gets 17-inch wheels which are quite big for such a small SUV while 15-inch ones are standard. Inside, the design is similar to the Ioniq 5 EV especially the steering wheel while there are twin 10.25-inch screens including a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation.

There is also a Pixel theme being used and it also has sustainable materials with recycled paint and more.

In terms of the specifications, the Inster has a Long-Range 49 kWh battery as an option along with a 42kWh battery pack as standard. Both models are powered by a single motor that makes 71.1 kW (97 PS) in the base variant and 84.5 kW (115 PS) in the Long-Range car. The torque figure is 147 Nm.

The top-end model with the biggest battery pack has a 335km range and an 11 kW on-board charger comes as standard, along with a battery heating system and high-efficiency heat pump.

Features include External and internal Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), 64-color LED ambient lighting, a fully digital cluster, a one-touch sunroof and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch (NFC) plus ADAS.

The Inster would be available in more global markets than the Casper while it will first come to Korea this summer, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

We think it makes sense for India given the looks plus range on offer along with premium features but the cost remains an issue and in-turn we may get an EV version of the Exter later after the launch of the Creta EV.
