New 2023 Hyundai Verna Vs Honda City Facelift: What To Expect?
After the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia came in, earlier entrants including Hyundai and Honda are launching their new contenders.
With the sedan segment suddenly ripe with a lot of new launches, the focus is back on what was once a dying segment. After the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia came in, earlier entrants including Hyundai and Honda are launching their new contenders. The new generation Verna gets a more radical styling and is completely new armed with a lot of technology. The City will be a much smaller facelift and would be limited to the exterior and interiors with a few feature upgrades.
In terms of styling the Verna has an aggressive look with a split DRL and headlamp set-up along with flat surfacing. There is a coupe-like silhouette as well. The City would be a more upright sedan look while the facelift adds in new bumper design and a set of new headlamp/tail-lamps. Inside, the new City will get an upgrade in terms of new features and that means it will try to compete head-on with the Verna. The new Verna is expected to sport an entirely new interior design with a large touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. In terms of features, both cars will lock horns with a sunroof, ADAS features, connected car tech and more. The Verna will offer dual powered seats and more.
If we talk of engines, there would be no diesel variant in both the cars and the new Verna will get a 1.5l turbo petrol which is an all new engine and that would come with a choice of a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed manual. There would be a naturally aspirated 1.5l petrol with CVT and manual. The City will come with a 1.5l standard naturally aspirated engine but there is also the strong hybrid version which would be available in more trims now with the facelift City. Both these sedans will aim to lure buyers away from SUVs and make sedans a popular choice again.
