Maruti Suzuki And Toyota EV To Have 4WD System And Lots Of Space
To be made at Suzuki Motor plant in Gujarat, the eVX from Maruti and its Toyota equivalent have been developed together while both would be visually different
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are developing a new EV for India has been known but now new details have been revealed. This is a Born EV which means it will have no similarity to other ICE engine cars in the Maruti or Toyota range. To be made at Suzuki Motor plant in Gujarat, the eVX from Maruti and its Toyota equivalent have been developed together while both would be visually different.
Think like Hyryder and Grand Vitara. Suzuki will supply and make the BEV while it will be a 4m plus SUV like the Grand Vitara. It will be having 'ample cruising range' as said by Maruti Suzuki in a statement and will also have 4wd which means a dual motor configuration along with a single motor which would form the entry level variant.
The BEV unit and platform have been developed by Suzuki, Toyota and Daihatsu Motor. The eVX will come earlier with an unveiling by next year starting followed by the Toyota version. Production will start in the Spring of 2025. There would be a likely Auto Expo debut for the eVX while the launch will follow later. The eVX and the Toyota EV is their first born EV and would be an eagerly awaited product while the eVX would be sold via the Nexa showrooms.
The born ev architecture also means a flat floor could be offered and a frunk possibly plus spacious interiors. This new EV will come at a competitive space where we will see Hyundai also launching their Creta EV while Mahindra will also unleash a whole range of them along with Tata already there with its Curvv. More details would be revealed next year but we can expect the concept-like looks of the eVX to be maintained by Maruti Suzuki.
