Karnataka: 2 South Africa returnees not infected with Omicron but have Delta variant

The two South Africa returnees in Karnataka are not infected with Omicron but have Delta variant. 

The new variant of Coronavirus, known as B.1.1.529, has been detected in small numbers in South Africa. The WHO on Friday assigned the Greek letter Omicron to the variant.

As a precautionary measure, the authorities in Karnataka have made Covid test compulsory for all passengers arriving from Kerala and Maharashtra, officials said on Saturday.
