UP Politics: Heats Up on Chaudhary Charan Singh Jayanti as SP MLA Reaches Assembly on Tractor

On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, political activity intensified in Uttar Pradesh, with farmer-centric symbolism taking center stage. Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Atul Pradhan arrived at the Uttar Pradesh Assembly riding a tractor to mark the occasion, highlighting issues related to farmers and rural communities. The move was aimed at honoring Chaudhary Charan Singh, who is widely remembered as a champion of farmers’ rights. Carrying a cut-out of Chaudhary Charan Singh, Atul Pradhan was accompanied by supporters wearing traditional turbans and holding sugarcane, symbolizing the struggles of farmers, especially those associated with sugarcane cultivation. Speaking to the media, the SP MLA emphasized that Chaudhary Charan Singh consistently fought for the rights of farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged, and said the party would continue that legacy. Pradhan also criticized the state government, alleging that its programs in the name of farmers are merely symbolic and lack real impact. He claimed that the government only honors people close to the administration and accused it of ignoring genuine farmer issues such as sugarcane prices and agricultural distress. The tractor march to the Assembly drew significant attention and sparked political debate, reflecting ongoing tensions between the ruling government and the opposition over farmer welfare. The event underscored how Chaudhary Charan Singh’s legacy continues to influence contemporary politics in Uttar Pradesh.
