On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asserted that saints, mahatmas, and yogis cannot be power-hungry. Speaking at a public event in Chandauli, UP, he emphasized that the role of spiritual leaders is to inspire society, as their achievements and meditations are aimed at national and social welfare. Adityanath highlighted that the contributions and spiritual practices of saints and sanyasis serve the greater good of the nation and humanity. He referenced Baba Keenaram, a revered spiritual leader whose 425th incarnation ceremony was being celebrated, noting that Keenaram's ideals and practices were meant to unify and uplift society. He criticized how foreign invaders had divided the country in the past, leading to its subjugation. The Chief Minister praised Baba Keenaram's legacy, citing his efforts to aid tribal communities and challenge Mughal rulers like Shah Jahan, demonstrating his independence from political power. Adityanath noted that Keenaram's miracles and the establishment of Kriin Kund in Kashi exemplified his enduring spiritual influence. Adityanath also announced that a new medical college in Chandauli would be named after Baba Keenaram, as a tribute to his legacy and a contribution to public health. He recognized Keenaram's social reform efforts, including support for widow remarriage, women's education, and care for the poor and leprosy patients, which continue through the Aghor Peeth. Finally, Adityanath urged people to align their actions with the spirit of "nation first," emphasizing the importance of serving the country in all endeavors.
