Maruti Suzuki Still Bets Big On Small Cars As Alto K10 Gets 6 Airbags Standard

The Alto K10 getting 6 airbags also brings the question as to why some car makers still don't offer them standard in its class, especially cars costing a lot more than the Alto K10.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 now has 6 airbags standard and this is something no one was expecting! The Alto K10 gets a marginal price hike because of this but the extra price is a mere Rs 16,000. The Alto K10 getting 6 airbags also brings the question as to why some car makers still don't offer them standard in its class, especially cars costing a lot more than the Alto K10.

Prices now start at Rs 4.23 lakh and this also shows that Maruti Suzuki is still betting big on its small car range which is also its main seller. The Alto sells well and so does the Wagon R along with the Swift plus the Baleno. While small car sales elsewhere are nosediving thanks to the infatuation with SUVs, fuel efficient hatchbacks are still in demand.

Alto K10: Engine and Safety Features

Putting 6 airbags in an Alto shows that Maruti Suzuki is keeping its small cars up to date with features and for the safety conscious Indian buyer. The Alto K10 has the 1.0l petrol engine with AMT and manual options along with a CNG variant on offer too. Crucially we have also seen sales of small cars from Maruti being strong thanks to demand from rural areas as well.

While the Alto isn't the best selling Maruti anymore, it remains part of the popular small car range and Maruti Suzuki plans to continue to bet big in the future as well while still branching out to SUVs and other body styles.
