Parliament Session 2024: 'Undeclared Emergency Is Going On', Mallikarjun Kharge Slams PM Modi
Amidst the Parliament session, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that an undeclared emergency is going on in the country. Some time back, PM Modi had targeted the Congress and said that on June 25, a black spot was put on the country's democracy, but now no one will dare to impose emergency. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as the Member of Parliament as the 18th Lok Sabha session began following the recently concluded polls to the Lower House of the Parliament. After Modi, the Council of Ministers will be administered the oath by pro tem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab followed by the newly elected MP in the alphabetical order of the state starting from Assam. This will be the first after the Lok Sabha elections 2024, which were held in seven phases from April to June. The polls saw NDA cross the 272-seat majority mark winning 293 seats. However, the BJP could not cross the majority mark on its own, securing 240 seats. The opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A bagged 234 seats, with Congress winning 99 of them. The session commenced after President Murmu administered the oath to BJP leader and seven-term member Bhartruhari Mahtab as the pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
