NRC becomes meaningless after Citizenship amendment bill: Congress' Ripun Bora

Congress MP from Assam, Ripun Bora, while talking to ABP News said that the National Register of Citizens of India (NCR) bill that was supported by the Congress party will become meaningless after the Citizenship Amendment Bill comes into effect. He said the bill was initiated in Assam by Congress itself and after spending so much money on NRC, the bill has now lost its importance, Bora added.

The Union Cabinet today cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill that seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan if they faced religious persecution there, sources said on Wednesday. A bill to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955, is likely to be introduced in Parliament in the next two days.
