Lawmakers agree to end decades old Parliament's canteen subsidy
Members of parliament have unanimously agreed to end decades old subsidy over food sold at parliament's canteen. Same decision was taken four years ago in 2016.
Accoding to the Sources, the parliamentarians decided to let go of the subsidy after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla mooted a suggestion over the matter. The savings could add up to almost Rs 17 crores annually once the practice to provide subsidised food at the Parliament canteen stops, added sources.
