The Gyanvapi Mosque sits near the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple, and the two monuments are part of the same complex. Following a suit filed by a group of women seeking permission to pray daily before idols installed on the Masjid compound's outer walls, a Varanasi local court ordered a videography study of the complex last month. The survey, which had been delayed due to Mosque officials' opposition, was resumed on May 14 after a local court order.
