Under the India alliance, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party together made a strong effort to break into the fort of BJP. This is the reason why Congress had made preparations to defeat Manoj Tiwari by fielding Kanhaiya Kumar from North-Eastern seat and capturing the votes of youth including Purvanchali. But both Kanhaiya Kumar and Congress failed in this. However, the huge crowd gathered at Kanhaiya Kumar's rallies and public meetings during the election campaign gave hope to the Congress and India alliance for victory. But they could not convert that crowd into votes.
