Everything to know about the Gyanvapi Case of Varanasi
1. In 1991, Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar filed a petition in Varanasi court, demanding the right to worship in the Gyanvapi complex.
2. The petition asserted that the entire Gyanvapi complex should be considered a part of the Kashi temple.
3. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) initiated a scientific survey with a 30-member team to determine whether the mosque was built on top of a temple.
4. However, the Supreme Court ordered ASI to suspend the ongoing survey until July 26th due to objections from the Muslim community about excavating under the mosque.
