Controversy Over 'Neelkanth Dhaba' Name, Violence Erupts on Kanwar Route; Safety Under Scanner

On the Kanwar Yatra route between Moradabad and Rampur, a dhaba named 'Neelkanth Family Dhaba' came under scrutiny after officials found its name misleading, given that the owner’s name is Sharafat. Authorities instructed the owner to change the name to avoid any religious confusion, and the signage was quickly covered up by painting over it.Meanwhile, Kanwar Yatra safety remains a major concern. In Panchkula, a shocking incident occurred when miscreants attacked a vehicle carrying Kanwar pilgrims returning from Haridwar. Allegedly, members of the Sikh community placed liquor bottles on the vehicle, and when the pilgrims objected, they were assaulted with sticks, and their vehicle was vandalized. The frightened pilgrims fled into nearby fields.Heavy police deployment has been made following the attack. Simultaneously, 829 medical camps have been set up along the Kanwar route, and schools and colleges in Haridwar will remain shut from July 14 to 23 due to the pilgrimage crowd.
