Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has caused widespread devastation, with numerous buildings collapsing, floods in various areas, washed-out roads, and rising river levels. So far, 11 people have died due to the severe weather in Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Sonprayag, and Nainital. In Kedarnath, cloudbursts and torrential rain have trapped over 700 pilgrims in the pedestrian paths near Lincholi and Bhimbali, with rescue operations underway at a war footing. The state has requested assistance from the central government, including the deployment of Air Force helicopters, to expedite rescue efforts and ensure the safety of those stranded in Kedarnath. Additionally, four people are reported missing in Dehradun, Haldwani, and Chamoli, with ongoing searches for the missing individuals, including two swept away in a seasonal canal in Dehradun.
