Breaking News: Second Suspect in Chandigarh Grenade Attack on Former SP's Residence Arrested
In a significant development related to the grenade attack in Chandigarh's Sector 10 on September 11, the Punjab Police have apprehended the second suspect, Vishal, from Delhi. This attack was intended to target a former police officer, and the plot was orchestrated by Pakistani gangster Harvinder Rinda and his associate, Happy Passia, who operates from Canada. According to a Punjab Police official, Vishal was identified and arrested by a special team from the Punjab Police's Special Cell in Amritsar, working in coordination with central investigative agencies. Vishal hails from the Der Baba Nanak area and had been working as a carpenter in Jammu and Kashmir with another accused, Rohan Masih. Masih was previously arrested from Amritsar on charges related to the grenade attack and was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition. The police revealed that Happy Passia, an American-based gangster, had allegedly promised both Rohan and Vishal a sum of five lakh rupees for their involvement. Passia, who is linked to Pakistani-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, is known for managing terrorist modules. It is reported that the terrorist group provided Rohan Masih with grenades and weapons, which were smuggled across the international border from Pakistan using drones. After the attack, the suspects boarded a bus to Amritsar and subsequently went their separate ways. The grenade attack occurred when the suspects, in an auto-rickshaw, targeted a house they mistakenly believed belonged to retired police officer Jaskirat Singh Chahal. Chahal had previously rented the first floor of the Sector 10 house two years ago. Following the attack, responsibility was claimed by the Khalistani gangster Happy Passia via social media. Passia was responsible for the financial and logistical aspects of the attack. According to police sources, the task of targeting Chahal was assigned to Rinda and his group after the 1986 incident.
