Breaking News: Indian Naval Engineer Arrested for Sharing Warship Defect Details with Pakistani Agents | ABP NEWS
Maharashtra ATS has arrested a 27-year-old engineer, Ravinendra Varma, working at a naval dockyard in a sensitive role, for allegedly sharing warship defect lists with Pakistani intelligence agents. Employed by a private defense subcontractor, Varma had access to restricted areas and classified data. In 2024, he reportedly came into contact with a Pakistani agent via a Facebook friend request from a woman, leading to a honey-trap situation. Intelligence Bureau inputs led to a probe, and ATS uncovered his involvement in espionage. The agent emotionally manipulated Varma into leaking defense-related details. His mother, claiming his innocence, said he never shared work details at home. Authorities are now examining his gadgets and connections for deeper links to Pakistan’s spy network.
