'If You Can't Speak Haryanvi...': Amid Language Row, Haryana Man's Video With Marathi Worker Goes Viral

Amidst rising tensions over language imposition, a video of a Haryana man's exchange with his Marathi-speaking employee is going viral.

At a time when Tempers are running high over "language imposition", especially in Maharashtra and Karnataka, a Haryana man's exchange with his Marathi employee has captured the attention of the internet. But it was not for the usual hate and violence that we see online. It was a moment that reflected India's ethos of fraternity.

Continue reading for the video below.

While Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers have made the lives of immigrant workers in nearly every section of the society miserable with threats and assaults, this Haryana man showed the way forward. The powerful moment captured on video is now widely circulating on social media. It features a touching exchange between the man from Haryana, Manu Sharma, and a youth from Nashik, Maharashtra... and it's melting hearts across the internet.

What Did The Haryana Man Tell The Nashik Youth?

The video opens on a slightly tense note. Sharma, off-camera, calls out to a group of people asking: "Who among you is from Maharashtra? Step forward." The youth, hesitant and visibly unsure, steps closer. Sharma then presses him to speak in Haryanvi. The boy, clearly nervous, responds that he doesn't know the language.

What happens next takes an unexpected turn.

"Why are you in Haryana if you don't know Haryanvi?" Sharma asks. The boy, caught off guard, appears more anxious. But just when the moment seems to teeter toward confrontation, the mood shifts completely.

With a gentle hug and a warm smile, Sharma reassures him: "This is your country — do whatever you want to do."

The two share a heartfelt smile, and that fleeting gesture of acceptance has deeply resonated with viewers across India. Thousands have reposted and commented on the video, praising Sharma's response as a beautiful example of the country's diversity and shared belonging.

Manu Sharma posted another video on his Instagram handle, calling for peace and asking people to refrain from language fights, which are primarily politically orchestrated. "Let's all get together and never fight and continue to make fun of Pakistan," he said.
