Brush Like The Colonel: KFC Has A Fried Chicken Toothpaste & It's A 'Finger-Lickin' Good' Move

The promotional $13 tube, available only through Hismile’s website, promised the nostalgic satisfaction of biting into a piece of hot Original Recipe chicken — all while leaving your mouth clean.

The idea of brushing your teeth with the taste of fried chicken might sound absurd — but it turned out to be finger-lickin' good business. A quirky new launch by KFC and Australian oral care brand Hismile has sent the internet into a frenzy, with their limited-edition fried chicken-flavoured toothpaste flying off digital shelves in under 48 hours.

Of course, the collab is nothing more than a short-term marketing ploy, like the Xbox Mini Fridge or the McDonald's Travis Scott meal. But it did its job, to get KFC and Hismile their 15 minutes of viral fame.

A Toothpaste That Tastes Like Takeout?

In one of the more eyebrow-raising brand collaborations in recent memory, KFC has lent its signature 11 herbs and spices to an unexpected canvas: toothpaste. The $13 tube, available only through Hismile’s website, promised the nostalgic satisfaction of biting into a piece of hot Original Recipe chicken — all while leaving your mouth clean and fresh. Yes, you read that right.

While most would associate toothpaste with mint or perhaps charcoal, this chicken-flavoured twist sparked conversations, shares, and immediate purchases. Hismile’s marketing manager, Koban Jones, told Fox News Digital, “KFC-flavoured toothpaste is surprising and talkable, which drove social conversation and a quick, 48-hour sellout.”

From Novelty to Necessity?

What began as a tongue-in-cheek novelty item quickly turned into a marketing masterstroke. “We love pushing boundaries, and what better way to do that than by making KFC’s iconic flavours a daily necessity? This collaboration is bold, unexpected, and seriously fun,” Jones added.

Interestingly, while the toothpaste carried the savoury scent and flavour of KFC’s world-famous chicken, it didn’t include fluoride. Still, it was pitched as providing “long-lasting oral health benefits.” The bizarre blend of taste and utility appears to have hit just the right nerve with consumers — and their taste buds.

For The Ones Who Missed Out

If you weren’t one of the lucky few to snag the chickeny concoction before it sold out, Hismile had a fallback offering. The brand launched a $59 KFC-themed electric toothbrush complete with soft-tapered bristles, three cleaning modes, and a built-in timer. According to the brand, it’s “the ideal combination of enjoyment and utility for the biggest smile.”

Whether this collaboration marks the beginning of a fried-chicken-flavoured future for personal care remains to be seen. But one thing is clear — KFC knows how to cook up buzz beyond the bucket.
