My Name Is Kovid And I'm Not A Virus: How Covid Changed Holidify Co-Founder's Life

Kovid Kapoor recently took to Twitter to share how people were "amused" by his name. So much so, that he has changed his Twitter bio to 'My name is Kovid and I'm not a virus'.

New Delhi: What's in a name? A lot, if it is 'Kovid'. Thanks to the Covid pandemic, Holidify co-founder Kovid Kapoor has been trending on social media.

Kovid Kapoor recently took to Twitter to share how people were "amused" by his name. So much so, that he has changed his Twitter bio to "My name is Kovid and I'm not a virus".

In a series of tweets, Kapoor detailed his experience of travelling abroad. "Went outside India for the first time since COVID and got a bunch of people amused by my name," Kovid tweeted.

"Future foreign trips are going to be fun!" he added.

For those wondering what "Kovid" means, Kapoor provided an explanation. Kapoor said his name meant "scholar" or someone who was "learned" and it came from the Hanuman Chaleesa.

The entrepreneur also said how his name is pronounced. Kovid is actually pronounced with a soft "d", he said.

The tweet, posted on January 4, has gone viral on social media, raking up over 37.5k likes and nearly 3,800 retweets.

In one of his tweets, Kovid also shared a picture of him enjoying Corona beer. "The Kovid + Corona joke that noone ever seems to stop talking about," he tweeted.

The Holidify co-founder also narrated an incident when his friends ordered a cake for his 30th birthday. The bakery automatically assumed that "it is some kinda joke, and it should be spelled with a C not a K", he said.

Kapoor also talked about an incident where employees of Starbucks laughed amongst themselves because of his name. "I mostly use a fake name now," he said.

Kapoor also spoke about his hassles with Google while inputting his name. "Did you mean: covid," Google asks him.

He also revealed that once a Zoomcar customer care executive told him that he and other team members had a good laugh over his name before making the call regarding some pending refund.

"Anyway - life threw me (and all of us) a sour lemon, I just decided to take it all in good humour and make some lemonade out of it," Kovid Kapoor said.
