Delhi Grapples With Severe Air Pollution, Sparks Meme Fest Online
Residents have been sharing pictures and videos of Delhi's skyline covered in thick smog.
It is that time of the year when pollution levels in Delhi and its adjoining areas like Noida and Gurugram rise to 'very poor' level due to factors like stubble burning at farms in Punjab and Haryana, construction work and vehicle emission. According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR India), the air quality index (AQI) of Delhi stood at 492 at 12 pm on Friday, which falls in the 'Very Poor' category. A layer of smog covered the Delhi-NCR skyline with visibility dropping very low in several areas.
The deteriorating air quality in the capital has put the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Admi Party (AAP) government in the doc over its preparation to handle the situation. Residents have been sharing pictures and videos of Delhi's skyline covered in thick smog. People have also taken to social media to share memes on the worsening air quality.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, a user shared a scene from the film Jolly LLB, and wrote "For this to stop one of the main solution is to provide sustainable solution to mainly Punjab & Haryana Farmers, so that they can restrict themselves from burning Stubble. Industrial & Vehicular pollution do not contribute much & " Fog formation is normal in winter due to Colder temperature & condensation of water droplets in air ".. " But Diwali bears the brunt of all this Political Drama.""
At the start of the winter season , #stubbleburning is the only main reason of sudden rise in Air Pollution in Delhi.
