Ahmedabad Trader Brutally Beaten Over ₹50 Lakh Extortion Demand — Viral Video Captures Shocking Attack

Ahmedabad trader Kamlesh Santani was brutally attacked by a mob after refusing a ₹50 lakh extortion demand. CCTV footage reveals the shocking premeditated assault.

In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through Ahmedabad, a 36-year-old electronics and mobile phone trader was savagely beaten by a mob of ten men after allegedly refusing to pay a ₹50 lakh extortion demand. The brutal attack took place in the early hours of Sunday, around 2 AM, near a railway crossing, and was captured on CCTV.

The victim, Kamlesh Santani, a long-time shop owner in the Ghodasar area, had reportedly been facing threats from a man identified as Jay Gadhvi. Fearing for his safety, Kamlesh had earlier confided in two of his close friends, Bhaveshdan and Arvindgiri, about the intimidation he was facing.

On Sunday, Kamlesh received yet another call from Gadhvi. He decided to head to his shop, accompanied by his two friends. But what awaited them was far from ordinary.

As the trio stood outside the shop, three motorcycles and a car suddenly pulled up. Out stepped Gadhvi, his associate Vishal (also known as Ulio), and several others — all armed with sticks and knives. Without warning, the group launched a violent assault.

According to details from the FIR reported by India Today, Gadhvi initially rushed at Kamlesh but was momentarily held back by Arvindgiri. However, the rest of the attackers quickly surrounded Kamlesh and unleashed a relentless beating. Vishal allegedly stabbed him in the cheek and struck him with a cement block. Gadhvi also assaulted him with a stick.

Disturbing CCTV footage, now circulating online and shared by Gujarati news outlet Waah Gujarat on platform X (formerly Twitter), shows Kamlesh collapsing under the force of the attack. Despite the chaos, his friends and the shop's security guard managed to drag him to safety. One of them immediately called the police, who arrived swiftly at the scene. Kamlesh was then rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.

Long-Standing Tensions and Threats

The confrontation appears to be the result of an ongoing feud. Kamlesh had prior dealings with both Gadhvi and Vishal, who were frequent visitors to his shop. Tensions between them had escalated over time. According to the complaint, on May 2 — while Kamlesh was vacationing with his family in Nainital — Gadhvi made a WhatsApp call demanding ₹50 lakh. He threatened to destroy Kamlesh’s business and harm him if he didn’t comply, insisting he needed control over operations in the Puneetnagar area.

8 Men Booked, Investigation Underway

Just hours after Kamlesh returned to Ahmedabad on June 8, Gadhvi called again, summoning him to the shop. It was there that the pre-planned ambush unfolded. Police have now registered a case against Gadhvi, Vishal alias Ulio, and six unidentified others. The charges fall under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Gujarat Police Act. Authorities have launched a manhunt and are actively pursuing the suspects.
